About Older Men’s Life

Older Men’s Life is a home for men over 50 who want to live their later years with purpose, dignity, and good company.

It is also for the sons, daughters, and grandchildren who love these men and want to support them well.

And it is for younger men who will be older men someday and would rather prepare than be surprised.

Why this site exists

I am Pius Chims, and four older men taught me most of what I know about being a man: my father, my grandfather, and two uncles.

Each of them showed me a different side of growing old, from quiet strength and good manners to illness, loss, and loneliness.

I also saw how easily society overlooks older men once they stop working and the house goes quiet.

I started this site so that older men feel seen, respected, and less alone, and so they can keep living a life worth living.

You can read the full story of these four men on my author page.

What you’ll find here

Every article falls under one of four topics that matter most to men in the second half of life.

Grandfatherhood

How to build close bonds with grandchildren, pass on family values, and stay involved without overstepping.

Retirement and purpose

How to rebuild your days, find meaningful work or service, and feel useful after your career ends.

Friendship and loneliness

How to make new friends later in life, reconnect with old ones, and cope with a quiet house.

Style and grooming

How to dress well for your age, keep a neat appearance, and carry yourself with confidence and ease.

How I write

Everything here comes from what I have seen, learned, and lived alongside the older men in my family.

When a topic needs expert facts, I cite trusted sources such as government health bodies, research institutes, and peer-reviewed journals.

I am a chemical engineer by training, not a doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor, so nothing here replaces professional advice.
